Current Projects Our Chapter Actively Supports

Veterans Hospital
Our chapter has an ongoing relationship with the Samuel S. Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albany. We provide toiletries, magazines, and afghans which are used to welcome veterans when they are checked in. This project is coordinated by the National DAR Representative.

Children of the American Revolution Society
In 1907 our DAR chapter started the Schuyler Society of the C.A.R. We reorganized the Schuyler society in 2003. Our mission is to instill an appreciation for the history of our country’s founding, to encourage leadership and citizenship, and to have some fun seeing and reliving the history of our area. Our mansion website has more information at VanSchaickMansion.org , or go to the National Society Children of the American Revolution website at www.nscar.org .

NYS Library Preservation Project - New York State Library
A dedicated committee of volunteers works at the New York State Library in Albany to assist with the preservation of DAR records. The New York State Library collection consists of nearly one thousand volumes of genealogical records which have been submitted by DAR members since 1923. The project requires photocopying, filming, and loading of fiche and fiche headings. Many volumes remain to be filmed.

The “Revised Master Index of New York State DAR Genealogical Records” was published in 1998 by chapter member Jean Worden. The two book set is available for viewing in the library of the Van Schaick Mansion. Contact the chapter for more details.

Genealogical Records Lookup Service
A dedicated committee of volunteers answers requests for information from the Revised Master Index volumes.
